South Brunswick Vikings football team scored an easy victory over East Brunswick Bears 40-9
The South Brunswick Vikings football team scored an easy victory last Friday evening against the East Brunswick Bears 40-9 during its Homecoming game.
The game was never close.
“It was a great win tonight,” Head Coach Joe Goerge said after the game. “We did what we had to do. It started with a good week of practice.”
Most fans did not even have to settle into their seats in the home side bleachers when Syracuse University bound Dante Strickland scored two touchdowns on runs of 57 and 86 yards to put the Vikings up 13-0 almost instantly. The second quarter opened up almost at the same pace that the first quarter did as Strickland raced to another score with just 13 seconds gone by in the second period.
That scoring play put the Vikings into a commanding 19-0 lead.
“It was Homecoming,” Strickland said after the game. “We had to give the crowd what they wanted to see.”
Head Coach Goerge was able to give Strickland a much needed rest for the second half while South Brunswick’s Phil Campbell scored two additional touchdowns and Wendall Allen added the final Vikings score.
