The East Brunswick Bears girls basketball team stayed perfect with a 5-0 record by defeating South Brunswick 57-36 in front of a home crowd in East Brunswick, NJ. The Bears got off to a fast start and jumped out to a 7-0 lead. South Brunswick worked back to as close as 10-7 before East Brunswick put on the gas and spurted out to a 21-11 lead. The Bears were ahead 30-17 at the half and rolled on to a 57-36 victory. Leading the scorers for East Brunswick was Julie Simoes with 13 points followed by Sydney Greenspan with 10. Also scoring for the Bears were Allie Warren and Dayna Sclafani each with 8 points and Nicole Johnson and Kaitlyn Roughhan got 5 and 3 points respectively. Brianna Davis was the leading scorer for South Brunswick with 13 points followed by Natalia Louhisdon with 10. The defense for the Bears was very strong and resulted in a number of turnovers. The Bears look like they will go far this year.
