November 6, 2005 – Greater Middlesex Conference Semifinals: North Brunswick 4, East Brunswick 2

North Brunswick was the number one seed, having lost only 1 game for the season, and they proved to be too tough for the East Brunswick Bears. North Brunswick started the scoring with a goal by Ibrahim Kamara in the 8th minute. East Brunswick quickly evened things out with a goal by Kiro Sato. The Bears goalie Alex Field, injured his knee in a collision with Adam Rudin and was temporarily forced to leave the game. During his absence two goals were scored by North Brunswick against backup goalie Dan Shalikar. With 42 seconds left in the half, East Brunswick brought it back to within one when Brian Robles converted a penalty kick. East Brunswick controlled the play most of the second half and had several good scoring opportunities, but they were not able to convert. Ibrahim Kamara of North Brunswick, however, was able to score his when presented the opportunity. He recorded his third goal of the game against Alex Field who had managed to return despite his injury. The Bears are now 12-8-1 for the season.

November 1, 2005 – Central Jersey Group 4: East Brunswick 4, Hunterdon Central 3

Brian Robles, Brad Reiner, Amir Fakhrzadeh and Rob Campos scored goals for East Brunswick. East Brunswick held a 3-1 lead in the second half, but Hunterdon Central came back to tie the game. The Bears won the shootout 5-4 in six rounds. The Bears are now 12-7-1 for the season.

October 29, 2005 – GMCT Quarter Finals: East Brunswick 2, Colonia 1

Colonia scored first on a goal by Josh Mello, but in the second half, the Bears fought back. East Brunswick tied the game with a goal by Corey Diamond at the 50 minute mark. Twenty minutes later, Robert Campos scored with an assist from Evan Brandsdorfer. The Bears will now go to the Greater Middlesex Conference Semifinals where they will face top seeded North Brunswick.

October 27, 2005 – East Brunswick 1, Old Bridge 0

East Brunswick fought a spirited battle with Old Bridge in the second round of the Greater Middlesex Conference Tournament. Both teams were doing a good job of keeping the ball away from their own goal and at the end of regulation neither team had scored. With darkness rapidly approaching, the cold fans did not have to wait long. East Brunswick kicked the ball down toward the Old Bridge goal where an Old Bridge player was called for hands. Brian Robles drove the penalty kick over the defenders and into the top right corner of the goal. Brian was swarmed by his team which enthusiastically piled on.

October 22, 2005 – South Brunswick 3, East Brunswick 2

South Brunswick got out to a two goal lead. In the last 15 minutes East Brunswick was able to score twice. Mike Morgan scored from about 20 yards out, hitting the top corner. Cory Diamond headed in a cross from the corner. South Brunswick scored their third goal in the 60th minute. Bears goalies, Dan Shalikar had 6 saves and Alex Feld had 4 saves for the Bears. East Brunswick’s season record is now 9-7-1.

October 20, 2005 – East Brunswick 2, Monroe 1

Monroe scored first on a goal by Billy Phillips, but seven minutes into the second half, Mark Abramowicz scored off a penalty kick. In the 68th minute of the game, Brian Robles put the Bears in the lead to stay by kicking in a ball that bounced off the Monroe goalie. Dan Shalikar and Alex Feld had a combined 8 saves for the Bears. East Brunswick’s season record is now 9-6-1.

October 18, 2005 – East Brunswick 1, Old Bridge 0

East Brunswick had more shots on goal than Old Bridge, but it wasn’t until 5 minutes before the end of regulation that East Brunswick was able to score. In the scramble that followed a corner kick, Corey Diamond passed the ball to Evan Brandsdorfer who took a shot that got past Old Bridge goalie Rani Sbeah. Alex Feld had 5 saves in the shutout for the Bears. East Brunswick’s season record is now 8-6-1.

October 17, 2005 – North Brunswick 3, East Brunswick 0

East Brunswick fell behind 2-0 at the half and could not generate much offense. The North Brunswick Raiders outshot the Bears 11-7. East Brunswick’s season record is now 7-6-1.

October 10, 2005 – St. Joseph 4, East Brunswick 1

East Brunswick fell behind 2-0 at the half and then 4-0 in the second half. Brian Robles scored the Bears only goal on a penalty kick in the second half. East Brunswick’s season record is now 7-5-1.

October 6, 2005 – East Brunswick 2, J.P. Stevens 0

East Brunswick continued their winning ways with a 2-0 victory over J.P. Stevens. Rob Compos and Hiro Sato each scored goals with assists from Brett Handelman and Brian Robles. Goal Keepers Alex Feld and Dan Shalikar had a combined 8 saves. East Brunswick outshot J.P. Stevens 10-8. East Brunswick’s season record is now 7-4-1.

October 1, 2005 – East Brunswick 4, Edison 2

Amir Fakhrzadeh scored a two goals, including the go ahead goal that proved the margin of victory. Mark Abramowicz and Brian Robles also scored goals. East Brunswick outshot Edison 17-8. East Brunswick’s season record is now 6-4-1.

September 29, 2005 – East Brunswick 3, South Brunswick 1

The Bears won a key Red Division match by defeating South Brunswick. Amir Fakhrzadeh scored a goal and had an assist. Brad Reiner and Evan Brandsdorfer each scored goals as well. East Brunswick’s season record is now 5-4-1.

September 27, 2005 – East Brunswick 2, Piscataway 2

East Brunswick Soccer

East Brunswick fought an uphill battle against Piscataway to manage a tie. The Bear’s first goal came on a penalty kick by Brian Robles which tied the game at 1. In the second half, East Brunswick again was behind but Brett Handelman scored a goal to tie the game at 2 each. Neither side was able to score in overtime. East Brunswick is now 4-4-1 for the season.

September 24, 2005 – East Brunswick 2, Old Bridge 0

East Brunswick played a very solid game against Old Bridge. The Bears scored early in the game and then again at the beginning of the second half. Scoring for East Brunswick were Brian Robles and Reiner with assists from Mark Abramowicz and Selby. At goalie, Sbeah did not need to make any saves. With this win, the Bears go to 4-4 for the season.

September 22, 2005 – St. Joseph 2, East Brunswick 0

The Bears suffered a disappointing loss to St. Joseph in Metuchen. East Brunswick has now lost 4 in a row and have a season record of 3-4.

September 20, 2005 – North Brunswick 1, East Brunswick 0

East Brunswick suffered a tough loss to North Brunswick. East Brunswick was outshot by North Brunswick 18-7. Mark Abramowitz made 12 saves as goalie. East Brunswick’s season record is now 3-3.

September 16, 2005 – Colonia 2, East Brunswick 0

East Brunswick suffered a disappointing loss to Colonia. East Brunswick outshot Colonia 14-3, but couldn’t get any of the shots into the goal. East Brunswick’s season record is now 3-2.

September 15, 2005 – East Brunswick 2, J.P. Stevens 1

East Brunswick scored first with a goal by Mark Abramowicz at the 11 minute mark. Sergio Freitas of J.P. Stevens evened it up 35 seconds later. Evan Bransdorfer put the Bears on top to stay with a goal at the 19 minute mark. Shalikar made 8 saves for East Brunswick at goalie. East Brunswick’s season record is now 3-1.

September 13, 2005 – East Brunswick 2, Edison 0

Amir Fakhzadeh and Brian Robles each scored a goal to help lead the Bears to a Red Division victory. Goalie Dan Shalikar had 5 saves in the shutout. East Brunswick’s season record is now 2-1.

September 10, 2005 – Westfield 3, East Brunswick 2

The Bears lost a tough away game to Westfield 3-2. Scoring for East Brunswick were Robert Campos and Brian Robles. East Brunswick’s season record is now 1-1.

September 9, 2005 – East Brunswick 2, Piscataway 1

Mark Abramowicz and Lee Selby both scored in the first half to put the Bears ahead to stay. The Bears opened their season with a Red Division victory.
