9/28/2007 – Piscataway 32, East Brunswick 20
East Brunswick played a strong game against perennial Greater Middlesex Conference Red Division powerhouse Piscataway.
The entire game turned on a few huge plays. Half way through the first period, Piscataway scored on an 82 yard run by Barry Garrard
who proved to be quite problematic for East Brunswick. East Brunswick fought back and drove down to score a touchdown near the end
of the half on a nice four yard run by Bobby Tocco. With the missed kick, East Brunsick trailed 7-6.
The defense held firm and with 30 seconds left in the half, East Brunswick
called time out to make Piscataway punt. Piscataway could field the snap and East Brunswick took over on downs after tackling the punter.
East Brunswick’s joy however was short-lived. James White intercepted a pass near the end zone and ran all the way back to Piscataway’s
5 yard line. On the next play, Piscataway scored and ended the half 14-6. In the third quarter, even though East Brunswick seemed to be dominating,
Piscataway scored first to make it 20-6. East Brunswick did not give up and drove down to score but failed on a two point conversion attempt. Another
Piscataway interception resulted in a touchdown, but with a missed kick, there was still hope for East Brunswick. The Bears drove down and scored and
made a two point conversion to pull within 6 at 26-20 with 10 minutes left in the game. Unfortunately for the Bears, the ensuing kickoff was
returned 70 yards and set up the final Piscataway touchdown. East Brunswick is now 2-1 for the season.
