East Brunswick High School Softball Summaries

April 9, 2008 – J.P. Stevens 5, East Brunswick 3

East Brunswick suffered a tough loss to J.P. Stevens when Caroline Vitale
blasted a two run homer in the top of the 7th inning to break a 3-3 tie. The game started off rough for the Bears when the
Hawks opened the scoring with a two run home run, but cut the deficit to one when Sheena McCarthy scored off an error. The Hawks
then scored again to gain a two run lead. Sheena McCarthy and Samantha Ur hit back to back RBI singles in the 6th to tie up the game and
the Bears had a great opportunity for more with the bases loaded and no outs, but a double play and a pop up ended that opportunity.
East Brunswick is now 3-2 for the season.

East Brunswick Softball

April 7, 2008 – East Brunswick 13, Piscataway 3

Samantha Ur got her third straight win by striking out 7 – of course, she had just a bit of run support! East Brunswick smashed in
4 home runs on 19 hits. Melanie Morrison was three for four with a double and two homers. Nicole Bornkamp was 3 for 3 with a homer.
Carrie Wan was 3 for 4 with a homer and two runs. East Brunswick is now 3-0 for the season.

April 3, 2008 – East Brunswick 6, Woodbridge 1

East Brunswick continued their domination with Samantha Ur not only pitching a beautiful game with 10 strike outs, but also belting a
home run in the third inning. Alyssa McCullock went 2 for 3 with a two run homer in the third. .
The Bears got 14 hits that went for extra bases with three home runs! Melanie Morrison had two home runs and Shanon Costello
hit a home run in her first varsity game. Melanie Morrison, Samantha Ur and Katie Jankowski were all 3-4 on the day. Samantha Ur was
the winning pitcher, striking out five and only giving up 5 hits and 2 walks. What a great way to start the season.
East Brunswick is now 1-0 for the season.

April 1, 2008 – East Brunswick 8, Old Bridge 1

East Brunswick demolished highly ranked Greater Middlesex Red Division rival Old Bridge in the season opener.
The Bears got 14 hits that went for extra bases with three home runs! Melanie Morrison had two home runs and Shanon Costello
hit a home run in her first varsity game. Melanie Morrison, Samantha Ur and Katie Jankowski were all 3-4 on the day. Samantha Ur was
the winning pitcher, striking out five and only giving up 5 hits and 2 walks. What a great way to start the season.
East Brunswick is now 1-0 for the season.
