East Brunswick looked like they were rolling along in the first half,
building to a 26-18 lead at half, but the third period was a disaster.
Trenton Central outscored East Brunswick 22-9 in the third quarter and
the Bears just couldn’t get a rally going. Scoring for East Brunswick:

February 17, 2006 – East Brunswick 60, J.P. Stevens 39

Megan Mayo made an amazing six three pointers to lead the Bears in
scoring with 20 points in East Brunswick’s victory over defending
champion J.P. Stevens in the first round of the Greater Middlesex
Conference Tournament. Laura Petriello added 13 points and Breanna
DeFalco scored 10 including six in the first quarter that saw East
Brunswick rush out to a 18-4 lead. Scoring for East Brunswick: Candice
Green(5 pts), Megan Mayo (20 pts), Anna Chesnakova (8 pts), Jess

East Brunswick totally dominated the game; blasting off to a 31-6
halftime lead. Jess Campbell scored 12 points to lead the Bears.

East Brunswick had to come from behind in a tight game against J.P.
Stevens. The Bears were trailing 16-13 at the half, but East Brunswick
outscored J.P. Stevens in both the third and fourth periods to register
their 18th victory of the season. Laura Petriello lead the Bears in
scoring with 13 points. Scoring for East Brunswick: Candice Green(6
pts), Megan Mayo (5 pts), Jess Campbell (9 pts), Laura Petriello(13
pts) and Kristie Lang(2 pts). The Bears are 18-3 for the season.

February 7, 2006 – East Brunswick 73, Sayreville 37

East Brunswick was only ahead by 9 at the half, but exploded for 24-7
third period to break the game wide open. Megan Mayo made 4
three-pointers and scored 16 points for the Bears. Jess Campbell scored
15 and Laura Petriello had 14 for East Brunswick. Scoring for East
Brunswick: Candice Green(8 pts), Megan Mayo (16 pts), Laura

February 4, 2006 – East Brunswick 37, Cardinal McCarrick 34

East Brunswick fought an epic battle against Cardinal McCarrick. The
Bears found themselves down 9-6 at the end of the first period and by
the same margin at the half. At the start of the final period, East
Brunswick was down 29-25. East Brunswick did not give up and with 30
seconds left, Candice Green made a layup to put the Bears ahead.
Cardinal McCarrick had a chance to tie with 15 seconds left, but turned
the ball over. Scoring for East Brunswick: Candice Green(11 pts), Megan
Mayo (11 pts), Laura Petriello(4 pts), Jess Campbell (4 pts), Breanne
DeFalco (7 pts). The Bears are 16-3 for the season.

1, 2006 – Piscataway 50, East Brunswick 32

East Brunswick had a really tough night against a very strong
Piscataway team. Candice Green was the main bright spot, making a
couple of really sweet 3 pointers and scoring 17 points overall.
Piscataway’s quickness lead to so many turnovers that really hurt the
Bears. On defense the Bears hung tough, with Kristie Lang and Anna
Chesnakova disrupting Piscataway’s efforts, but Piscataway had the ball
far to frequently. East Brunswick was down 24-11 at the half, and never
was able to get a good run going. Scoring for the Bears were: Candice
Green (17 pts), Jess Campbell (4 pts), Megan Mayo (3 pts), Anna
Chesnakova (2 pts) and Ali Riccio (6 pts). The Bears are 15-3 for the

January 30, 2006 – East Brunswick 40, Perth Amboy 36

East Brunswick was down 20-19 at the half, but despite a 17-7 run in
the third, the game came down to the wire. At the end of the game,
Perth Amboy had two chances to tie the game, but was finally shut down
when Jess Campbell hit both free throws to close out the scoring.

Anna Chesnakova (6 pts), Jess Campbell (10 pts), Breanne DeFalco (4

January 26, 2006 – East Brunswick 41, South Brunswick 27

East Brunswick knocked off previously undefeated South Brunswick,
behind the dominating play of Anna Chesnakova. The first half was
basically even with East Brunswick grabbing a 3 point lead when Candice
Green hit a 3 pointer with 2 seconds left in the half. In the second
half, Anna Chesnakova asserted her dominance and shut down South
Brunswick around the basket. For the game, Anna lead all scorers with
11 points, 12 rebounds and three blocks. This victory puts East
Brunswick into first place in the divisional standings. Scoring for
East Brunswick were: Candice Green(8 pts), Megan Mayo (7 pts), Anna
Chesnakova (11 pts), Jess Campbell (5 pts), Kristie Lang(6 pts) and

East Brunswick got off to a slow start and actually trailed Edison
13-12 at the end of the first quarter, but the Bears poured it on in
the second quarter, outscoring Edison 22-10. East Brunswick defense
only allowed Edison 14 second half points. Jess Campbell led the
scorers with 16 points. Megan Mayo had 10 and Anna Chesnakova had 9 to
help propel the Bears to their eighth straight victory. Scoring for

10 points in the fourth quarter, East Brunswick managed to pull out a
43-41 victory. Jess Campbell was the leading scorer for the Bears with

East Brunswick looked like they were going to completely destroy Edison
in the first period with Laura Petriello putting the Bears out to a 9-2
lead. Megan Mayo dashed down the court for a couple of quick lay-ups
and at the end of the first period, East Brunswick was ahead 23-6.
Edison did a fine job of sinking free throws to keep the game
reasonable, but the Bears were a scoring machine. Scoring for the Bears
were: Laura Petriello (23 pts), Jess Campbell (15 pts), Megan Mayo (9
pts), Candice Green (6 pts), Anna Chesnakova (4 pts), Kristie Lang (4
pts) Ali Riccio (2 pts) and Breanne DeFalco (2 pts). With the win, the
Bears improve to 2-0 for the season.
